Jack and Greensprout, Inc., of Rivers Falls, Wisconsin, recalls a 5-ounce package of alfalfa buds that expired on January 29th this year, saying that the buds could be contaminated with Listeria monocyte genitals. Ta.
Listeria organisms can cause serious, sometimes fatal infections in young children, frail or elderly people, or those with weakened immune systems.
The company announced a recall for Sprout on February 7th – and the Food and Drug Administration (FDA) published a notification on its website on February 8th.
The FDA recalls more than 2 million donut cases
“While healthy people can suffer only short-term symptoms such as high fever, severe headache, stiffness, nausea, abdominal pain and diarrhea, Listeria infections can cause miscarriage and stillbirth in pregnant women.” The FDA states on its site.
The 5-ounce package was sold at grocery stores and local cooperatives in Minnesota, Wisconsin and Iowa, the FDA says.

The product comes in 5 ounces of clear plastic packaging marked with lot #687 UPC #763247198915, the company reported.
No disease has been reported so far in relation to alfalfa herd concerns.

According to the Centers for Disease Control and Prevention (CDC), “an estimated 1,600 people die each year, with approximately 260 deaths.”

The FDA said that after regular testing by Minnesota, there was a recognition of possible contamination of alfalfa buds, but testing from Jack and Greensprout's independent labs had negative results.

In a wealth of caution, the company is asking consumers to throw away an expired 5-ounce package carrying lot number 687.
