Aussies Cheer Homegrown Star Jordan Mailata as He Makes History with Super Bowl Win

Jordan Meertata, a huge Australian rugby convert, has made history as the first Australian to claim a Super Bowl victory, spoke about his “crazy and crazy journey so far.” So we threw lots of cheers down on Sunday.

The huge offensive tackle, who joined his second NFL Championship decider, did not play a minor role in the Philadelphia Eagles' stunning victory over the Kansas City Chiefs this year in New Orleans. Guardian Report.

He never played American football until 2018 drafted by the Eagles. Now he is an important part of the champions' offensive line for his team.

The postal journey from the humble beginnings southwest of Sydney to the pinnacle of World Sports is complete. .

“You want to be more physical,” Mailata told Fox Sports NFL. “It was a great defense we were against, so we knew we had to answer that call. And it's not easy, you need to want it.”

Mailata's performance in the game was praised, with former Detroit Lions quarterback and ESPN analyst Dan Orlovsky saying Australia's influence can be felt beyond the field of play.

“Think about all the kids who have returned to Australia,” he said. “Now you may not be blessed with the God-given ability to move like that, but for those who come by a man. [Australia]come here and have the career he has, it gives hope to a young child who says, “I want to be the next Jordan Maerata.”

I asked him how he could come to mind the Super Bowl champion from his promising rugby talent. Mailata He told ESPN: “Don't be afraid to tilt your toes into the water.

“You have to immerse yourself. You have to be drowned in that atmosphere – whatever you want to do – you will learn how to swim.”

Guardian Note that three other Australians appeared in the Super Bowl. Bengraham in Arizona in 2009, Mitch Wishnowski in San Francisco a year later, and Arryn Siposs, a teammate of the boring Meita in 2022.

Mailata is not the first Australian to own a Super Bowl ring. Jesse Williams picked up one for the Seattle Seahawks in 2013, but he didn't reach the field with a 43-8 hammer as he was on the sidelines of all that season through injuries.

Mailata's victory is even more welcome as the NFL expands its international footprint to Australia.
