First on FOX: The Justice Department is trying to dismiss federal accusations against New York City Mayor Eric Adams, Fox News learned.
Deputy Attorney General Emil Bove wrote a letter Monday to representing the Southern District of New York, instructing SDNY to withdraw the federal lawsuit against Adams and dismiss it without prejudice.
Adams was charged in September with charges of bribery, solicitation of campaign contributions from foreigners, wire fraud and conspiracy. He pleads not guilty to all charges.
Sources told Fox News that the case must be dismissed as the process was contaminated against Adams.
Sources said a senior Justice Department official said he believes the case should be dropped so Adams can continue his efforts to stop illegal immigration in the city.
