Steve Bannon admits to fraud in ‘We Build the Wall’ case, avoids jail time

Trump's former White House chief strategist Steve Bannon admitted scamming a New Yorker who gave to “We Build the Wall” online fundraiser on Tuesday, but provided prison time as part of a plea deal I won't.

Bannon pleaded guilty to one scheme for fraud in front of April Newbauer on the Manhattan Supreme Court, wearing a dusty brown jacket of his signature.

“Now, are you just admitting that you're counting five and making a plan of fraud a crime?” the court clerk asked Bannon answered “Yes.”

Bannon was sentenced to conditional discharge for three years. He also does not have to pay compensation.

He was scheduled to go to trial on March 4th before resolving his deal with Manhattan prosecutors.
This was the second felony conviction for Bannon, who was convicted of Congress' light empty in 2022. He served in federal prison for four months before being released in November.

Bannon's lawyer, Arthur Adara, said outside the court that both he and Bannon are happy with the deal.
