Arizona Plane Crash Adds to Growing Concerns over U.S. Aviation Safety

A crash on another plane in the US caused multiple casualties. This time, a civilian aircraft collided with the second plane at Scottsdale Airport in Arizona. The latest tragedy includes the Lear Jet 35A, which had landed when it collided with a parked Gulf Stream G200 jet, killing one person and injuring three people, including two critically. According to a statement from a spokesman, the singer of rock band Mötley Crüe and the singer of Mötley Crüe owns Learjet, but was not on board.

The collision was captured on video.

Airport officials told the Republic of Arizona that the Learjet 35A landing gear appeared to have failed during the touchdown, turning the aircraft off the runway and causing it to collide with the parking lot. Although there is no commercial transport at Scottsdale Airport, it is popular among private and business aircraft.

The crash took place on Monday at 2:39 pm local time.

“Neal's plane had two pilots and two passengers,” the spokesman said Monday. “Mr. Neil was not on the plane. This is a rapidly evolving situation and there is a continuous investigation, so more specific details about the collision are not available. Mr. Neil's thoughts and prayers are He's been on the list to all involved and he's grateful for the critical help of all first responders today.”

The collision comes amid growing concerns about US airline safety. In January, two crashes in a week attracted the public's attention. First an American Airlines plane collided with a DC military helicopter, killing 67 people on two crafts. The second incident in the same week included an ambulance that crashed shortly after takeoff in Philadelphia, with all six on board, including a pediatric patient, mother and four crew members.

Last week, a Bering plane crashed in Alaska, with all 10 people on board.
