A female Long Island High School student has been urged online this week to urge officers to rush to campus in an urgent manner.

Teens whose names are not published are taken for evaluation and arrested at a later date to create a threat. The exact nature of the treat is not revealed.
The post was ultimately “unreliable” according to Huntington school district superintendent Beth McCoy.
Anyway, she wrote to the school community involved after the incident.

“We understand that this situation can affect students in many ways. If your child feels that they need to talk to someone about this or other concerns. Please contact the mental health staff at the children's building for support,” McCoy wrote.
“Such actions can have serious consequences and can affect the entire school community. With peace of mind, Huntington Union's Free School District will provide a safe and secure environment for all students and staff. We are committed to working closely with the school's resource officers and local police to ensure that we are secured.”
