Representative Ayana Presley (D-Mass.), a member of a group of far-reaching parliament known as the “squad,” and Senator Cory Booker (DN.J.), have stated, “reintroducing The The HR 40.” He is leading the charges to do so: a committee to research and develop compensation proposals for the African American Act.”

Reparations can take many forms.

However, the term generally refers to monetary payments to Black Americans funded by US taxpayers. They aim to send funds to people who are descendants of American slaves.

“We find ourselves in moments of brave white supremacy and anti-black racism, and in moments of weaponized Supreme Court that are actively hampering protection and progress,” Presley said Wednesday. said in.

“When it comes to our civil rights, we have a hostile administration that is actively working to roll back decades of progress and recent progress,” she continued.

“Our government has a moral and legal obligation to provide compensation for enslavement of Africans and lasting harm to the black community, regardless of who occupy the oval office. Masu.”

The HR 40 has been introduced many times before over the past 30 years. Former CEO Sheila Jackson Lee (D-Texas) died of cancer in the summer.

The bill was first introduced in 1989 by former Congressman John Conniers (D-Mich.), and the contents of the bill have not changed since the most recent session.

“I work actively to blunt attacks from hostile regimes that harm everyone who calls this country home, but which have a different impact on black Americans,” Presley added. I did. “Because throughout history it's been proven figuratively that when others catch colds, black people, they've been able to catch pneumonia.”

Despite Presley's enthusiasm, the bill is unlikely to pass in a Republican-controlled Congress. It urges Americans to question why Booker and Presley are “washing time” about politicians trying to pass it.

Her push for reparations continues after President Donald Trump's signed executive order to remove federal diversity, equity and inclusiveness (DEI). Skin color, sexual orientation, or gender.

According to a statement from Booker's office last month, 17 Democrats co-hosted the bill, “to better understand where our country is shortfall,” and at the same time, “members are the result of generational fraud.” It helps us better deal with the racial disparities and inequality that persist today as well.

“We are not yet truly recognised and not addressed the way slavery, racism and white hegemony continue to maintain the disadvantages of African-Americans,” Booker added.
