Sen. Chris Van Hollen (D-MD) on CNN's “Newsroom Live” on Wednesday said a proposal by President Donald Trump to take over Gaza and turn it into a resort “on fire and threw it into a gasoline barrel.” He said.
Van Hollen said, “What the president did is that he set it on fire and threw it into a gasoline barrel, because what's going on in Gaza, is already Tinderbox. It's already on fire, and what he's doing is spreading that fire. He essentially ends to the ethnic cleansing of Gaza, the forced removal of two million Palestinians into other regions. I want something that's based on it.”
He added: He makes it much more difficult to move on to the next stage. I hope we can do it. They were kind and Steve Witkoff helped implement Stage 1, but now President Trump has made it difficult to complete the job. He did the opposite. ”
