Senate confirms Brooke Rollins to lead USDA

The Senate on Thursday held a fierce pace to confirm Brooke Rollins, head the Department of Agriculture and confirm President Trump's choice to lead the Chamber of Commerce to lead his administration.

The senator voted 72-28 to lead the USDA.

Democrats agreed to condense floor time for the nomination after being voted unanimously by the Senate Committee on Agriculture.

Rollins will work with lawmakers on a farm bill that has been stagnating in recent months and will work together on priorities related to ejecting billions of dollars in aid for farmers. She also received extensive support from major agricultural organizations.

Although she does not have a background in agriculture, Rollins headed the National Policy Council under Trump's first term and was part of the American Innovation Bureau, which was shut down by the Biden White House. She also led the American First Policy Institute after Trump's 2020 defeat.

The move means that Trump has approved 16 candidates within four weeks. This is more than the total seen in his first term or former president Biden's time.

By February 13, in his first office stint, Trump had introduced 11 candidates. He didn't get 16thThe candidates were confirmed until March 1st.
