Ex-Biden Ambassador Rahm Emanuel joins CNN as senior political commentator

Rham Emanuel, who served in the Biden administration as US ambassador for the Japanese government, is taking part in CNN as a senior political commentator, the network announced Thursday.

Emmanuel is also a commentator of global issues, bringing his “extensive knowledge of American politics and international issues” to the network. CNN said in the release.

“A political veteran with over 30 years of experience in democratic politics, Emmanuel served as Japan's 31st Day Ambassador during the Biden administration,” the release states.

Emmanuel resigned as Japan's ambassador ahead of President Trump's inauguration. Emmanuel detailed the lessons he learned in Japan in his “Tokyo is taking” newsletter. This newsletter went out to members of the council, chairman and specialist staff on the committee.

As his time at the country was nearing the end, he warned of the international influence of the Second Trump administration, particularly on Asian countries.

“Everyone agrees that something has to happen beyond the normal business, and that's a breakpoint,” he told Hill about the local defensive tensions.

As a veteran Washington insider who served three Democratic presidents, including former President Obama's chief of staff, Emmanuel emerged by Democratic strategists, and then led the Democratic National Committee. It was also rumoured that if she wins the election, he could be tapped as the national security adviser to former vice president Kamala Harris.

He has a reputation as a high-energy operative who can often use colorful, profan languages. He caused a small diplomatic crisis last September when he posted a terrible comment about Chinese officials.

Emmanuel also served as Illinois representative in Congress and returned after becoming mayor of Chicago after his time at the White House.
