Media Elites Weigh Boycott of White House to Support AP’s Feud

Founded media is considering whether to boycott the White House event, supporting an associate press feud with the White House press, saying, “Breitbart… can take their place,” CNN reported on Friday.

As the AP refuses to officially recognize “American Gulf” as the name, the White House bans reporters from covering three events in the oval office, threatening legal action. Ta.

“No one has the right to go to an oval office and ask the US president questions,” White House press chief Carolyn Leavitt said Wednesday. “If we feel lies are being held down by the outlets in this room, we'll hold those lies accountable.”

CNN's Brian Stelter, who falsely claimed that Hunter Biden's laptop was Russian misinformation, I wrote it On Friday, many of his media colleagues proposed a “mass boycott” of White House reports, saying, “Breitbart… allows them to take their place”:

Many readers have asked what other news organizations are doing to support the AP. Some suggest that a massive boycott is appropriate. But consider the possibility that the Trump White House wants this fight. I hope that journalists will act like enemies in place of observers. If the entire press pool is in solidarity with the Associated Press, skip Trump's photos, wouldn't the White House welcome Breitbart and one American news?

My sense is that the AP editors and other media institutions have back-channel conversations about what to do. “We have to be strategic,” one editor told me, continuing to cover the White House without accepting how the AP is being treated. .

Meanwhile, the AP is moving forward with potential legal challenges. As one staff member said, “It's difficult to come up with a clearer case of perspective discrimination.” The staff said “the motivation has already been established” through Karoline Leavitt's comments to Kaitlan Collins at a press conference on Wednesday.

President Donald Trump designated the “American Bay” name change in January, and Google Maps and Apple Maps updated the map to reflect the designation of the new US Bay, but the AP remains stubborn .

The AP's decision to spur the name change is contrary to past updates to its style guide. For example, in 2020, we updated our “Black” People Style Guide to “Black” People.
