A Michigan judge sentenced shoplifters to start scrubs at local big box stores after committing theft.
Judge Jeffrey Clothier ordered the burglars to wash their cars free of charge in the Walmart parking lot, according to the Associated Press, following the conviction.
According to the report, Clothier is trying to discourage criminals from stealing from the store.

“I don't think everyone who steals is a bad person. Sometimes people just take their luck,” Cloth told the Associated Press. “But if you break the law, there will be consequences.”
The judge began a “Walmart Wash” ruling this week on a misdemeanor shoplifting crime at a store in Grand Blanc Township near Detroit, the Associated Press reported.

He said that in a form of community service, he will be ordered to wash his car at weekend events at that location in the spring.
Clothier told the AP that Walmart is “onboard” and will provide water and supply.

“If you see someone you know, I think it's humiliating to wash a car,” he said. “I'll wash the car with them.”
