Recent family Gabby Petit We sat down with News Nation's Brian Entin to discuss a Netflix documentary about how she works to prevent murder of her daughter and domestic violence among young people.
“When you watch the documentary, this is a real person, this is a real family, it's a real story, it's real life,” Gabby's mother, Nicole Schmidt, said. News Nation. “It's not just true crime. This can happen to anyone.”
“We didn't think this would happen to our families. That's why we're trying to help people, so we're trying to make sure this doesn't happen to them,” she added.
July 2021, Gabby and her boyfriend Brian Laundry I went on road trips all over the United States, but the only place I returned to my parents' house in Northport, Florida was the laundry.
Authorities said Landry killed Petitto and left her at Grand Teton National Park in Wyoming. Her body was found weeks later in mid-September, and days after Laundry went missing at Myakkahatchee Creek Environmental Park in Florida.
His body was later discovered in a nature reserve in October 2021. Investigators say he died of self-harm wounds and left a notebook confession that he had killed his girlfriend.
