Daytona 500 2025: Ryan Preece walks away from another terrifying Daytona crash

After a major delay in weather, the Daytona 500's 67th run finally ended once it began, with William Byron winning the Great American race for the second year in a row.

However, one of the major moments of the Daytona 500 this season was the horrifying crash involving Ryan Pleise, appearing in the closing rap. The field was bundled and Christopher Bell gained a large ridge from the back by Cole Custer, sending Bell's No. 20 Toyota to the right and then onto the exterior wall.

When Bell's Toyota turned, it came into contact with Preece's No. 60 Ford, who was running alongside Eric Jones' No. 43. These two cars touched, and the front end of the Preece's Ford was lifted into the air, then sent the Preece into an absolutely wild ride.

Former drivers of Fox Sports Commentary Booth, Clint Bowyer and Kevin Harvick, expressed surprise to see Preece's car go into the air in such a way.

Preece was able to leave the incident and was released from the medical center after a brief assessment.

Here is another view of Jones' No. 43 incident:

Interviewed after being released from the care center, Preece admitted that a shipwreck was taking place.

This is not Preece's first horrifying moment at Daytona International Speedway. During the 2023 Coke Zero Sugar 400, he went into the air again and flipped over 10 times before his car rested in the infield:

The incident led to a safety review by NASCAR, which owns the Daytona truck. Results of that review After last year's Daytona 500, NASCAR paved backstretch glasses and changed the previous curb and concrete pads.

Still, as Preece pointed out, this was another horrifying incident, and he was lucky to have left.

“I'm lucky enough to leave, but I'm very grateful because we're really close to people that can't,” the driver added.
