Hegseth Has Tapped Investigators for Afghanistan Withdrawal

Defense Secretary Pete Hegses said in an exclusive interview with Breitbart News that he has already chosen investigators to investigate Afghanistan's tragic withdrawal.

“We're already identifying the people responsible for that complete investigation within the pentagon,” Hegses said in an interview Thursday.

“I don't have a time frame for it. Sadly, we've already waited three years and a half to see what happened. I don't want to wait long, but I always want to make it right That's it,” he said.

In July 2021, the Biden administration began a chaotic withdrawal of US troops and embassy staff from Afghanistan.

Additionally, hundreds of Americans have been left behind despite the administration's propaganda saying it boasts about successfully retreating and promoting the biggest withdrawal in history. On his way out, the US military carried out a strike to target a suicide bombing, but instead killed aid workers and his family. Then-chairman Mark Millie promoted it as “the right strike.”

The leader was not responsible or fired. Only Colonel Stuart Scheller, who called for accountability in a viral video, lost his career. President Donald Trump has appointed senior counsel to the defense under his secretary for staff and preparation.

Hegseth said accountability is coming.

“The way to establish real accountability is to establish a real chain of facts: events, information, what happened. Why did that happen? Who made the decision? What was the reason for making that decision? Why did they give advice, or didn't give advice? Why did they execute the order in a certain way? They were supposed to be Did you say it when it was or not? I don't think anyone feels there was an honest accounting of what happened in Afghanistan. That's what we do,” he said.

“So we're going to push forward that full investigation and understand what happened. And, as I said to the Labor force on Friday, I was about to happen in Afghanistan a week ago. I think there will be accountability for what we do, and that is important to reestablish the Pentagon's trust,” he added.
