David Tennant took multiple shots of President Donald Trump on Sunday, comparing him to villains from various films at the 2025 British Academy Awards Film Awards (BAFTA) ceremony.
The “Doctor Who” actor has held awards shows for the second year in a row. While talking about this year's film nominations during the opening monologue, Tennant explained how the period movie “The Brutalist” is “an incredible architecture movie.”
“In fact, it's the boldest architecture of the film this year. Apart from Donald Trump's hair in “Apprentice,” Tennant said, calling the biographer Trump a biographer starring Sebastian Stan.

He said, “Donald Trump, he's never seen an “apprentice.” [British rating] 15. Nickelodeon doesn't have it. Donald Trump. I'm worried. I said his name three times. It's like Beetle juice – I summoned him. And we're talking about the villain…”
Tennant linked Trump Trump to Nosferatu from the 2024 Dracula film of the same name, and Hugh Grant's character from the horror film “Heretic.”
It was reported later The BBC edited some of the tenant jokes Of the awards ceremony broadcasts to keep the show two hours long. Specifically, the tenant's jab in Trump's hair was aired, but his comparisons between Trump and Beetlejuice and the other villains remained on the floor of the Mana room.

A BBC spokesperson said, “The nature of the show is that it airs with short delays and requires editing due to time constraints.”

Tenants also laughed at Trump last year when he won the 2024 BAFTA award.
“The 'poor thing' has been appointed,” Tennant said in his monologue. “The “poor thing,” gentlemen whose brains of children can be put into the adult body. And one of them may be re-elected as president later this year. ”
