Bill Guerin, general manager of the US team in the 4 Nations showdown, was pleased with the notion that President Donald Trump should be in the US-Canada finals on Thursday.
An interview with Fox News suggested that the sitting president could come and see the highly anticipated rematch between the two host countries of the tournament. After three fights broke out in the first 9 seconds of the first game.
“If President Trump was in attendance, we love it,” Guerin said Thursday before the championship at TD Garden. “We have a room full of proud American players, coaches and staff. And listen, we will make our country the best possible way to make it our country. I'm trying to represent you.”
At this point, it's hard to believe Trump will be in attendance despite his recent hit at the Super Bowl (the first sit-in to attend a big game). .
Canadian Prime Minister Justin Trudeau was attending the first meeting with Canada and Team USA on Saturday, when the crowds at Bell Centre in Montreal loudly booed the US national anthem.
Trudeau later posted a photo on X of Maple Leaf on ice with the caption that read “I'm proud of this country.”
“The Star-Spangled Banner” was booed in the NHL and NBA games north of the border before the Four Nations tournament began due to Trump's tariff threat against Canada.
That's intensifying as Trump has repeatedly suggested that Canada should become the 51st state to call Trudeau “governor.”
