Canadian Prime Minister Justin Trudeau issued a clear defense of Ukraine on Wednesday amid an escalating feud between the war-torn country leader and President Trump.
In a video posted on social media, Trudeau reveals that “Canada and our allies” are united in support of Ukrainian President Volodimir Zelensky and Russian President Vladimir Putin. did.
“Canada and our allies are clear in confronting unfair violations of Vladimir Putin's illegal and immoral international orders,” Trudeau said in his remarks.
“We sat in a few hours with our European partners to talk about how we stand clearly, not only to defend Ukraine, but to defend the rules that keep us all safe. I look forward to seeing you do it,” he continues.
Trudeau vehemently defended the “rule-based order,” which he said kept the world safe near the last century.
“The Ukrainians have fought and died, not only to protect their sovereignty and the territorial integrity,” Trudeau said. “They are also fighting to protect rules-based order that keeps us all safe around the world and keeps us all safe for nearly 80 years.”
“This period of peace, stability and prosperity occurs because there were rules around the border that Russia deliberately chose to violate, a few years ago, by not invading your neighbors. ” he added.
Trudeau posted the video, writing, “Canada will always stand up for Ukraine.”
The intermittent show of support for Ukraine is a recent Trump administration seeking to negotiate an end to the Russian and Ukraine war in Trump's recent escalating language war with Zelensky.
Three Trump administration officials met with Saudi Arabia's Russian counterparts on Tuesday to discuss two powers and end the war in Ukraine. The conference, which neither Ukrainians nor European representatives, showed dramatic changes in US-Russia relations, sparking responsibilities from Zelensky.
Trump responded on Tuesday with an unfounded allegation that Zelensky had “started” the war, with Ukrainian leaders replied on Wednesday that the US president lives in a “net of disinformation.”
Trump challenged social society hours later, calling the Ukrainian president a “no-election dictator” who had been doing “a scary job.”
