Robert Davi ‘concerned’ he won’t get role in ‘Goonies 2’ because of his conservative views

When “Goonies” actor Robert Davie was asked about a sequel to a cult classic from the 1980s, he shared some concerns about whether he would call to revive the character Jake Fratelli.

The 1985 adventure comedy is loved today, following a group of children discovering maps of hidden treasures.

Davi's Fratelli is a criminal to Mama Fratelli and is a brother to Francis and the sloth.

He has some memorable scenes in the film. For example, include when he tries to sing an Italian opera.

Fans of the original were excited this week when it seemed like a new report would confirm that the sequel was now straight ahead.

But Davi's politics could complicate things, he suggested in a recent interview with Fox News Digital.

He has been one of Hollywood's outspoken conservatives in recent years, and is just as candid as Davi tells him he could potentially sacrifice the “Goonies 2” cast spot.

“We'll see if they'll bring back Jake Fratelli or if they'll bring back the Fratelli brothers in any way,” he told Fox Digital. “I hope, because it's such an iconic film that people all over the world still reach out to me with “Goony.” It's interesting. I think that goes beyond the status of a cult. ”

Fans of the film are still approaching him today, he said he was worried about how his conservatism could work against him in the future of the franchise.

“And the funny part about that is, director Dick Donner said when we did the film, he said to me, 'This is going to be like the modern wizard of Oz.' “Davi added.

“And for a lot of people it's become that. And I've got multiple generations of families that have come to me, how much they love “Goonies” and they sing there It shows you how much you love Jake Fratelli. So I hope for a part of it. I hope they don't embrace my politics with me and don't protect me from that project. ”

Davi explained that not receiving a call is a concern because it happened before.

“I'm worried about that, yes,” he said. “It's because it happened with other issues, other projects. And that's just that I believe in freedom of speech and not always politically correct.”

Fox News Digital reached out to Warner Bros. and Amblin Entertainment for comment.

Davi told Fox Digital that he was President Donald Trump proudly since the current president began his political career.

“I've been writing about it since 2015. From the day he announced, I've been a pro-trump,” he said.

Davi continues to support the president today, celebrating Trump's selection of Hollywood ambassador.

“To announce John Voight, Mel Gibson and Sylvester Stallone is my honor to announce that I will be a special ambassador to a great but extremely troublesome place in Hollywood, California.”

“They serve as special envoys to me with the aim of bringing Hollywood, which has lost so many business abroad in the past four years.

Dhabi, who said he was friendly with all three actors, welcomed the committee.

“And I think it's great to have a committee,” he said. “Of course I was frustrated for my own selfish reasons, of course, because I wanted something like that. And I would have to have a committee in Hollywood, and then I would have to make it part of the administration. and in the campaign, what the President said now is to bring back business as we have lost so much business in Hollywood.

Dhabi said the political issues that drive most of his passion today support Israel, bring awareness to the war in Ukraine, and above all, seek transparency and cut down government waste.

The actor added that President Trump has especially mastered the last item and recently announced it at the helm of the government's Department of Efficiency (DOGE).

“Trump has been talking about getting under the hood for decades in terms of waste that's happening in our government and around the world,” Davi said. “And now there's someone who's saying, wait a minute, how good would the American people be if we can cut all of this out?”

Warner Bros. reportedly hired Possy Ponsilori, a film director known for the film “Old Henry,” to write the screenplay for the sequel to “Goony.”

Spielberg, Christie Macosco Krieger and Holly Barrio will produce with Chris Columbus for Amblyn Entertainment, while Lauren Schler Donner will be executive produced According to variety.

The film has not been announced a director.
