New Series “Elle” Premieres on Amazon Prime

A high school setting near Harvard University is the backdrop for the new Amazon Prime original series, “ELLE,” which premiered on July 1st. This series serves as a prequel to the beloved film “Legally Blonde.”

Set in 1995, “Elle” follows familiar characters as they navigate challenging friendships, secret romances, and, of course, some peculiar fashion choices, all while being high school students who have just relocated from Bel Air to Seattle, Washington.

In this adaptation, newcomer Lexi Maintenance takes on the role of Elle Woods, previously portrayed by Reese Witherspoon in the 2001 movie. Interestingly, Minetree secured the part by sending in her rendition of Elle’s Harvard audition tape, which is a fun twist, I think.

Even before the premiere, it seems Amazon is optimistic about the show’s success, having already renewed “Elle” for a second season.

Release Details

All eight episodes of “ELLE” are now available for viewing on Prime Video as of July 1st.

Watching “Elle” for Free

As an Amazon exclusive, “Elle” is available only on Prime Video. For those who aren’t subscribers yet, there’s a 30-day free trial of Amazon Prime, which offers a range of benefits. These include access to Prime Video streaming, two-day shipping, and other deals. Once the free trial concludes, the regular price for Amazon Prime is $14.99 per month or $139 annually.

Oh, and if you’re between 18 and 24 years old—student status aside—you might qualify for a discounted Young Adult Prime membership, which could halve your costs after a six-month free trial.
