DOJ dropping immigration case against Musk's SpaceX

The Department of Justice (DOJ) said Thursday it plans to withdraw Elon Musk's lawsuit against SpaceX.

“If administrative proceedings are rejected by the end of the 30-day period, the defendant will move promptly to dismiss the case on Mutness's premises, and SpaceX will not oppose that relief,” the filing said.

The lawsuit was filed in August 2023 and accused SpaceX, a major aerospace company, of “everyday” blocking it and allowing asylum-based employees to apply for employment. Federal prosecutors argued SpaceX often refuses to refuse or consider employment from its position, particularly because of its citizenship position.

The DOJ alleged that the allegations occurred at least between September 2018 and May 2022, violating the Immigration and Nationality Act (INA).

The alleged discrimination extends to positions requiring advanced degrees, but “welders, chefs, crane operators, baristas, dishwashers, information technology experts, software engineers, business analysts, rocket engineers. , various jobs such as marketing professionals have also expanded. ”

SpaceX sued to block the DOJ's complaints and urged a suspension of proceedings so that the court could consider both arguments.

The layoff comes as Musk sits at the helm of President Trump's so-called Office of Government Efficiency (DOGE) panel, which focuses on cutting back government bureaucracy.

Musk faces criticism of Doge's efforts, particularly those that have led to large layoffs of federal workers, closures of an entire independent agency, and access to confidential information. Several lawsuits have been filed to challenge layoffs and access to federal databases.
