Fitness star Katie Austin on turning on-screen dreams into reality

Katie Austin has wanted to be in front of the camera since she was a child.

A longtime working with teammates and coaches towards unknown territory during his long-term athletic days, Austin found himself growing more time and growing new communities in the fitness field.

Taking inspiration from YouTube videos, she hosted intimate classes on campus and shared her training online.

In 2021, Austin was named co-winner for the annual Swimsuit Casting Call for Sports Illustrated Swimsuits, along with Kristen Goff, the wife of current Bestie, Lions quarterback Jared Goff.

“I'm so grateful to be doing it all with my best friend because I can audition over the years and then do the whole process,” she said. “I don't think it would be the same if Kristen wasn't with me because she's really my best friend.”

Both newlyweds, Austin and Goff, were an integral part of each other's big day last year. Goff served as a bridesmaid to Lane Armstrong at Mayale Trials in Austin, and Austin was by the BFF's side at Goffs' wedding in June.

Ever since being named Co-Rookie of the Year in 2022, Austin and Goff have continued to pay it forward to the new class in sports-illustrated swimsuits.

“We feel in this position where we can welcome rookies and make them feel like they belong. So, it feels like it's great for me to show love to rookies. I will,” she said.

Also, Austin has a 2019 cover star Camille Costeck, the longtime girlfriend of the NFL Gretrobugronkowski, and a 2019 cover star with a fellow sports-illustrated swimsuit vet who did the same for her. I also wore a hat on the star Kamille Costeck.

“Camille Kosteck was a big reason why I auditioned in the first place,” she gushed. “And she's so authentic and very inspiring to me.”

Austin embraces new and unique opportunities for the future, like her weekly online cooking show Come in, but the lessons that parents share remain at the forefront.

“What they really taught me is longevity in my career,” Austin said. “…I still know that my career is just beginning, so today or even this year, I decide to make a decision based on 20 years from now. You are always the leader of your career Make sure you're thinking about it, especially in an industry where you can go up and down.”

Looking at this year, Austin wants to grow his “Come In” audience. “It's my passion project, I'm obsessed with cooking!” – and perhaps dabbled in a venture from her past.

“It was like my roots, so I want to go back to sports hosting,” she said.
