Kathy Lee Gifford talks about how President Donald Trump saved her and her newborn daughter from a dangerous stalker.
In a recent interview on “The Sage Steele Show,” the 71-year-old TV personality got emotional as she recalled the incident 31 years ago. Gifford said that on her and her daughter Cassidy are on their way to Atlantic City, Gifford is set to host a “Miss America” pageant, and her late husband, Frank Gifford, was killed threatened. He said he was notified.
“The FBI was called my husband and they said, “Mr. Gifford, we have a problem. I have this guy. This is a very bad person.” [He] He was a mentally ill murderer, a rapist and a murderer. And he's coming to get your wife,” she shared.

The former host of “Live! With Regis and Kathie Lee” told Steel she just gave birth to Cassidy six weeks ago. Gifford, along with his baby daughter and nanny, was about to go out into the van to drive to Atlantic City for three hours when Frank received a call from the FBI. She told how the FBI asked Frank to proceed with the original plan.

“They said, “We want you, Mr. Gifford, to maintain your schedule and to let your wife maintain her schedule. I said.
Gifford said the FBI told Frank that he “rapeed and tortured” his own aunt. She explained that the man's aunt was able to escape long enough to call the police.
“This is why I will love this guy forever.”
“I've never heard of it until the other day. Someone showed me how she finally got away. [him]”Gifford said, “He's gone. He stole her keys and told her, 'Now I'm going to chase after Kathy Lee.”
The daytime Emmy Award recipient recalled that Frank told the FBI he disagreed with the request that he and Gifford maintain their normal schedule until they make one call.
“And he called Donald,” she said.

Gifford explained that she was always staying at Trump Plaza and Casino when she was in Atlantic City.
“Frank called Donald and said, 'Donald, this is what I'm in,” recalled Gifford.
“And this is why I love this guy for the rest of my life,” she said as Trump shed tears. “He said, “Frank, you don't worry about it. I have your girl. I have your girl. And you don't worry.”
“Then Frank called the FBI back and said, “I called Donald Trump. He's going to take care of his wife and daughter.” ”

Gifford said at the time that she “knowed nothing” about the threat, and was surprised when she received a call from Trump.
She later realized that the real estate mogul was protecting her by using another safer mode of transport to her destination. Gifford was also confused as Trump came up with a cover story to explain why he was making the gestures.
“I said, 'Donald, why? He said, 'Because you gave birth to a baby.' I said, “Donald, women have babies every day. It's not a big deal. Thank you. But that's not a big deal.” And he says, “No, congratulations. I'm so on to you. happiness… [I’m] I'll send my helicopter for you, your baby and your nanny,” she recalled.
Gifford recalls that she tried to talk to him, but Trump is stubborn. “The next day he sent a helicopter.”
In addition to dispatching helicopters, Gifford said he was greeted by four members of Trump's security team when he arrived in Atlantic City.
“So these guys are majors, majors and they say, 'Mr. Gifford, Mr. Trump wants you to know we're here for you,'” Gifford said. Ta. “I didn't know what they were talking about.”
Gifford said she had just given birth and “all kind of things happening” so he didn't ask any further questions about why Trump sent his safety to protect her.

The “Then Come You” actress thanked the security guard and said, “I've never thought anything about it.” However, she remembered that they protected her for a week until they reached the pageant, and additional members joined in her security details every day.
On pageant day, Gifford had free time, so she headed to the lobby. She recalls her confused as to why the security guard was stationed outside her hotel room.
“I've never thought about it, do you know?” she said. “I'm… stupid. But he didn't say anything. No one said anything to me.”
After she arrives in the lobby, Gifford is surprised when he sees a newspaper with a headline about her death threat. She contacted the pageant organizer. The pageant asked if they rethinked hosting and performance at the event due to the threat.

“I said, 'Hell, no,” she recalled. “No one is going to make me scared.
“And I understood everything,” she said. “I understood what Donald had done, I understood what Frank said.

Gifford said she went to the pageant and then took her home on a different route. She later discovered that FBI officials were protecting their 3-year-old son Cody at their Connecticut home. The next day, Gifford went to the cinema, where she was informed by the FBI, who was protecting her, and was informed that the man had been caught.
“In the middle of the film, one of the FBI men comes and goes, 'Mrs. Gifford, we have got this son of b,” she recalled. '”

At the beginning of the episode, Gifford explained that the late Rev. Billy Graham warned him to stay away from politics in the past, so he rarely shared a story about how Trump helped her.
“He said, 'Tell people that God loves them,'” Gifford recalled Graham's advice. “And all these years, that's what I did, you've never heard me say anything about politics.
“And now I'm ready,” she said. “First of all, Billy is gone. I saw him just before he died.”

The famous evangelist died of natural causes in 2018 at the age of 99.
Gifford knows that Graham understands why she needs to be “very honest” now and that he has to talk about how Trump saved her. I said that.

However, she still explains that she “hate politics” and that she dislikes some of Trump's rhetoric.
“I shrink from time to time. I go, 'Donald, no, no,” she said. “That's not the guy I knew, do you know? But what I told you is a guy I know.
“It's my friend Donald,” Gifford said. “It saved my life. I saved my daughter's life. And if I called him today, [he] Save again. ”
