Bessent says US-Ukraine deal has 'implicit' economic security guarantee

Treasury Secretary Scott Bessent said the US ukrane contract, featuring “strategic minerals, energy and state-owned enterprises,” has “implicit” economic security guarantees.

“The deal is part of President Trump's long-standing negotiation strategy for peace between Ukraine and Russia. With “Sunday Morning Futures.”

“So the first part of this is a Ukraine-US partnership involving strategic minerals, energy and state-owned enterprises, where we have set up a partnership and we are just looking forward to it.” He continued.

Bessent added that the transaction is characterized by “an implicit guarantee that if the United States invests heavily in the future of its economy, I call it an economic security guarantee.”

“The more ground assets US companies have, the greater interest the US has in the future, the more interest the US has in the future [the] The better the Ukrainian economy is, the more security it will be created for the people of Ukrainians, and… the benefits of US taxpayers are higher,” the Treasury Secretary continued.

Last week, Bescent went to Ukraine to meet with Ukrainian President Voldymir Zelensky.

“Security is important. Moscow and its allies cannot allow us to gain control of Ukraine. That means we have to work together. Repeat a free world.”

New York Times I reported that US officials have recently been fishing in the direction of a proposal that the US will receive half of all revenue from Ukraine's natural resources, along with revenue from ports and other infrastructure.
