Sen. Jack Reed (D-RI) said on Sunday that President Donald Trump “suspended to the Russians” over policies regarding the Russian-Ukraine war.
Host Martha Radaz said, “Okay, I want to go back to Ukraine. It was a very surprising week. President Trump's personal attacks were personal against President Zelensky, who has been fighting for his country for three years. I've heard of such attacks. What about your reaction to what you heard this week and the type of rhetoric you've heard?
Reed said, “Well, essentially, this is President Trump surrendering to the Russians. No surprise. In Afghanistan, he sat with the Taliban and ruled out the Afghan government in Doha through his envoy. They essentially said, listen, don't bother us for a year, and we'll go outside. Now he's basically trying to undercut the Ukrainians and I'm trying the same thing.
He added: “This is not a politician or diplomat. This is someone who praises Putin, someone who doesn't believe in the struggles of the Ukrainians and is committed to someone who is comfortable with the dictator. Putin never stops in Ukraine. So I think that's wrong.”
