DeSantis doesn’t back Byron Donalds despite Trump endorsement in governor’s race

Florida Gov. Ron DeSantis said Monday he doesn't necessarily support President Donald Trump's choice to replace him, according to Rep. Byron Donald, R-FLA.

Donald has not officially announced plans to run for governor of Florida in the 2026 race, but Trump said on Thursday's True Social Post that if he does, he would say he would “complete and complete.” He said he has support. Meanwhile, DeSantis is rumored to have the idea that his wife will run to the governor to a donor.

At a press conference held in Tampa on Monday, he discussed the creation of Florida's own government efficiency and refused to support Donald's governor bid at this stage.

“Donald Trump has just taken office, and I want these lawmakers to focus on enacting his agenda,” DeSantis said. “They haven't done much yet. They haven't introduced his executive order. We're looking at what they're doing with spending, but we're campaigning elsewhere. I don't think it's something you can't recommend at all, with a narrow majority that you try and miss out on these.”

“We achieved victory in Florida, and you need to achieve victory from there, so I think people will see that and know you have a guy like Byron. “We've had here over the last few years,” DeSantis continued. “He's not part of it. He's campaigning it in other states. That's fine, but it's fine. That's what I want to see. In Florida. We're always for the people in Florida. Deliver it to. That's what we need to do.

DeSantis said he was trying to raise money for the 2026 race and was looking for someone who could “continue and build on the success we did in Florida.”

“I think a lot of people have won the fight and you don't have to worry about it. We can go back very quickly. It can happen. 100%.” “And that's really necessary, 'Okay, will you become a person who fights for people? And have you won over the years?” And if you don't want to do that, we I don't think I'll take anything for granted, as I think I'll see this situation return. ”

“Because of the policies we have, hundreds of thousands of people have moved here in particular, and I think that's something you don't take for granted,” DeSantis said. “This doesn't necessarily mean continuing with automatic pilots.”

Asked about the potential run of his wife, DeSantis did not confirm Monday, but he highly praised her political insight and conservatism.

“People always ask me about the amazing First Lady who did a great job as the First Lady in Florida,” DeSantis said of the First Lady. “I'm going to tell you this, you're talking about people like her. I won by the biggest margin Republicans have won a governor's race here in Florida. She's me It will do better than that.”

“She is a person with a gut indomitable spirit and a commitment to conservative principles, and anything we accomplish will be able to take us to the next level,” DeSantis said.
