Former GB Olympic swimmer jailed for raping two teenage girls | Crime

The former Olympic swimmer and trainee police officer was jailed for 21 years after being convicted of raping two teenage girls and a series of other sexual offences.

It has been heard that Antony James, 35, who represented Britain in the 2012 London Games at the 100m Butterfly, took care of the girls on behalf of the UK on behalf of the 100m Butterfly.

Judge Robert Linford told James: “I knew what you were doing was seriously wrong,” he said, noting that he had a “subtle approach” to “abusiness catalogue.”

James was convicted of three counts of rape, three sexual activity with a child, and two counts of causing the child to engage in sexual activity. He pleaded guilty to six counts of making indecent photos of a child.

James, a student officer with Devon and Cornwall police at the time of his arrest, committed the crime for 10 years between 2012 and 2022. Victim.

One of James' victims read her victim's personal statement in court, saying he was “twist and strange.” She said: “You used me many times and again.”

Survivors say James took her some of her formative years. She added: “The person I was supposed to be was taken away from me. I always wondered what type of girl I would be if you didn't do this to me.”

She said she had a panic attack and was constantly feeling “in a flight or a fight.” The woman said she felt embarrassed when she saw her body. Before the attack, she was a confident girl. She then felt “fragile, weak and trampled.”

She told him: “I will never forgive you what you did to my family. I hope you have a hard time living with what you did, but why Or I doubt you will.”

Defending Joe Stone KC said, “This is Shakespeare's fall from grace given its contribution to the city and the country.”

He said James rose to the “top of the world of sports,” breaking British records on behalf of his country, the European, federal, world level and at the Olympics. Stone said James also helped people with special needs.

“We've seen you get a lot of money,” said Gemma Neeborn of the Crown Prosecutor's Office. This prosecution would not have been possible without evidence bravely provided by the young women involved.

James, a native of Plymouth, served in prison for 14 years before he was released and was placed on the sex offenders register for his life. Devon and Cornwall police said they were suspended after the arrest and are no longer employees of the police.
