Kate Hudson believes that children should learn to be self-sufficient early in their lives.
The 45-year-old actress shares her son, Ryder, 21, with her ex-husband Chris Robinson, son Bingham, 13, ex-fiance Matt Bellamy, daughter Lani Rose, fiancé Danny Fujikawa and daughter Lani Rose.
In a recent interview with Bustle Magazine, Hudson explained that Rider, the oldest child who is a New York University student, assured him that he understands there are hopes if he decides to move home after graduating from college.
“He's been able to understand what my life will be like, how I achieve what I want to achieve, how I can live,” she said. “I think you should teach your kids that stuff first, so when they get to that point they say, “Oh, my God, can you afford my life, and you're not leaning on my family?”

The actress is the daughter of Goldie Horn79, and musician Bill Hudson, 73, say that Hudson considers his mother's longtime partner, Kurt Russell, 73, to be his father.
Horn and Russell first met in 1966 when they co-starred in the comedy musical western “The Only Real Original Family Band.” The pair's relationship eventually became romantic when they reunited as leads in the 1983 film Swing Shift.
In 1982, Horn and Bill, whom son Oliver, also share, were split after six years of marriage. After the divorce, Russell and Horn raised the children of the “Death Become Her” star together.
The couple also shares their son Wyatt, 38, who welcomed in 1986. Hudson, Oliver and Wyatt all became actors.

Currently appearing in 2017 ABC Radio Podcast, “There are no restrictions on Rebecca Jarvis,” Hudson explained that Horn and Russell always emphasized the importance of hard work when she and her brothers grew up.
“Our family's work ethic is really huge,” she said. “They definitely planted it in all their kids… It's basically “Do your job. Do everything you can.”
Hudson also considered how she mostly joined NYU, where her son will register more than 20 years later.
“I think you should teach your kids that stuff first, so when they get to that point they say, “Oh, my God, can you afford my life, and you're not leaning on my family?”
She was accepted into the university's prestigious Tissue Arts School, but chose to postpone the university in order to pursue her acting career.
After making his film debut with the 1998 film “Dessert Blue,” Hudson appeared in a series of films including “200 Cigarettes,” “Gossip,” “Dr. T&The Women,” and “About Adam.”
When she was 19, Hudson won a groundbreaking role in “almost famous” in the 2000s, and was nominated for a Golden Globe and an Oscar performance.

While talking to Bustle, Hudson shared that Horn and Russell raised her to be confident in her decisions from an early age.
“I had parents who instilled in me that it's okay to be self-owned and trusted in myself,” she said. “When I wanted to be an art, I was very driven. I didn't have to do a talent show with the three of them. I wanted to dance and be there.”
“Sometimes, when you're that young and you're self-owned, there are a lot of people who want to beat you,” she continued.
“And I've had a lot of pushbacks from my peers,” she added. “But my parents always assured me that it wasn't about me. It was okay to get out there and do my own routine.”

The “Knife Out: Glass Onion” star experienced a major personal milestone early in life. Hudson moved in with her first husband, Chris Robinson, just days after meeting in May 2000. The couple tied the knot on the Great Ve day of the year when Hudson was 21 years old.
When he appeared on “The World's First Podcast,” Hudson recalled meeting Robinson at the age of 20 while on vacation in New York. Hudson said that when she returned from the trip a few days later, she declared that she was going to marry Locker.
While appearing on the podcast, the “Fool's Gold” star explained why she decided to marry at such a young age.
“I just jump into the deep edge of everything I do,” Hudson told hosts Erin and Sarah Foster.
“People thought it was impulsive, but I just said, 'What do you know? I'm just going to jump into this right away. I'm not going to re-certify it.”

The two welcomed Rider in 2004 and ended their seven-year marriage in October 2007. However, the two continue to get along well with their son, and believe that Hudson taught Robinson that he “feels unconditionally loved.”

Hudson began dating Muse singer Matt Bellamy in 2010 after meeting at the Coachella Music Festival in Indio, California. The two revealed that they were engaged in April 2011 and welcomed Bingham that July.
In December 2014, the actress and musicians announced that they had canceled their engagement. But they have left good conditions since they ended their romance.
The actress began dating musician Danny Fujikawa, 36, a longtime family friend in December 2016. Hudson first met a musician when he was pregnant with Ryder at the age of 23.

In an interview with Sarah and Erin, Hudson remembers going on a hike with Fujikawa and realising it was a date.
“As for Danny, there was one that he came from such an honest place that he could tell me he wanted to see him,” she said.
“And he was nervous and I was like, 'OK, this is a date.' And I had to wrap my head around it. And by the end of the hike I was saying, “He's so great.”
“He was very kind, loving, pure, and in my heart, “I think I'm ready for such a person.
In April 2018, Hudson announced that he was looking forward to his first child together, and later that year welcomed his daughter, Rani. They revealed them I was engaged September 2021.

Horn explained that while raising his child he was “angried with bad behavior and kindness” but “not angry with mistakes.”
The Oscar winner admitted that Hudson is a “more structured” parent and told her, “You draw the roadmap very firmly.”
“Listen, our kids are our biggest teachers, and as parents you should be able to learn because you don't know everything,” Horn said.

Horn continued to remind Hudson that her children were “not you.”
“And you're not me,” continued Horn. “And that's one thing we have to remember.”

Hudson also shared the best parenting advice he received from the Horn. She recalled recalling the allegations she made to her mother while pregnant with Ryder when she didn't understand why she was “so sad.”

“I'm learning to let go. I think a lot of mothers, especially girls, feel helpless when you don't think you need it anymore…it's just a stage,” Horn said. “There's personalization and then there's a period when we'll come back together again.”
In a recent interview with Bustle, Hudson explained that her confidence comes from the strength of her family bond.
“At the end of the day, our family is important in life,” she said. “From my siblings to my nephew and nie, my sister-in-law, my mother, my father, my partner, his brother. I wonder where the true kind of self-owning nature came from.”
