He said Boston was drafted first overall by the 2023 fever, and the offseason addition was welcome. She shared Thursday with her front office in Indiana that she and other returnees were included in the free agency conversation.
“I think the front office did an amazing job of including us who they were looking and how they thought they would fit us. I think this is always very important,” Boston said Thursday in the availability of other media, a new 3-on-3 professional women's basketball league.
Boston thanked her feedback for being solicited.
“Yeah, I definitely think it's good, it fits very well, maybe not that much,” Boston said.
Fever has lost several players since last year. Temi Fagbenle was selected by Valkyries in the expansion draft, Erica Wheeler left for the Seattle storm, and Nalyssa Smith was traded for the wing of the trade that sent Cunningham to the heat. Fever also acquired Katie Lue Samuelson's deal, abandoning Grace Berger, and Kristy Wallace chose to win 2025 WNBA season.
But Boston is excited about the new acquisition. Bonner is a six-time All-Star and the fourth leading scorer in WNBA history, fresh from a productive year with the Connecticut Sun. Howard is a former defensive player of the year, boasting her own two All-Star selections. Cunningham is a perennial starter that offers even more depth in the wing position. One of the league's most veteran players, Colson brings a championship experience.
“Everyone that the front office brought and talked to, I was very excited. I think we're seeing it now with everyone we signed,” Boston said. “I'm very excited about what's coming to the Fever team. I definitely think it's going to be fun.”
