Carlos Sainz Jr. remains the king of F1 testing

For the second season in a row, Carlos Senn Jr. is standing on a test timing sheet for the first season of Formula.

A year ago, Sainz posted the fastest time on the Bahrain International Circuit, topped the board with a lap time of 1:29.921. Sainz banked that rap in Ferrari's final season before joining Williams for the 2025 campaign.

However, despite the team changes, the Spanish driver led the 1:29.348, 0.573 seconds lap this year earlier than his pre-season effort. Behind the second and third Sainz? They are nothing more than the Ferrari duo of Lewis Hamilton and Charles Leclair.

“We've made some progress compared to yesterday and improved the balance of our cars.” The sign followed his rap on Thursdayhis final day at FW47 this week.

“I feel as prepared as I can in a day and a half test. I'll try to push it out completely in Australia.”

Telemetry data from Sainz's Lap is courteous. F1 tempo. As you can see, the rap appears to have come during some eligible simulations. Sainz laps one round and presses the next lap, then presses the next lap and cools on the third lap.

It is also worth noting, as usual, that pre-season test data is filmed with a single grain of salt.

Still, Sainz had an equally impressive season with Ferrari following his strong performance in Tests a year ago. He won the Australian Grand Prix – triggered by an emergency appendectomy that kept him out of the Saudi Arabian Grand Prix, earning nine podium finishes, bringing Ferrari to McLaren second in the Constructors Championship.

For those who believe Sainz will return to the podium in his first season with Williams, you could be heartily in these results in Bahrain, even with the mandatory grain of salt.
