Sen. Graham’s support for Zelenskyy slips following heated Oval Office exchange

Republican Sen. Lindsey Graham, South Carolina Republican Sen., opposed President Voldimir Zelensky, despite previously pouring help into Ukraine.

This change in tone comes after Zelensky was exchanged for a very intense exchange with President Donald Trump at the Oval Office on Friday, as America mediates peace talks between Russia and Ukraine. The escalated exchange resulted in the joint presser and mineral trade signature between Trump and Zelensky.

“He needs to change dramatically or make someone new.”

“He downplayed the United States in his precious oval office,” Trump said. statement Friday. “He can come back when he's ready for peace.”

The result of a tense crying match, Zelenskyy was able to lose support from one of the most trusted supporters on the hill.

“I urged him to stay in the message,” Graham said. I said Zelenskyy's. “Thank you and thank you. We'll talk about the details and security guarantees later. Please cheer up. Please stay positive.”

“It was an absolute and total disaster,” Graham said. “The question for me is, is he not red in the eyes of the Americans? Most Americans who witness what I saw today don't want Zelensky to be his business partner, including me. And I have been to Ukraine nine times since the war began. I met him this morning.”

Graham called the meeting a “missed opportunity” and continued to question the effectiveness of Zelensky's leadership.

“You're not a trivial thing with this guy,” Graham said of Trump. “He was very positive. He was very bright. He wanted to get a ceasefire. He wanted to end the war. And Zelensky felt he needed to discuss Trump in his oval office.”

“This missed the opportunity,” Graham added. “I don't know if Zelenskyy can take you where he wants to go to the US. He needs to change dramatically or someone else to be new.”
