Pope Francis Placed On Ventilator Following Bronchial Spasm, Prognosis ‘Remains Uncertain’

Pope Francis' health worsened Friday after suffering from a “bronchosis attack.” The Roman Catholic Church leader reportedly caused “vomit breathing.”

Bronchospasm is described as a potential life-threatening condition that narrows the airways of the lungs.

The incident led the Pope to volunteer for some of the vomit and led medical staff to respond immediately to the issue.

The Vatican revealed that the Pope responded well to mechanical ventilators. He remained “always wary and oriented.”

Pope Francis has since been hospitalized in Rome, Italy. February 14ththfighting dual pneumonia, which puts him in a “critical state.”

The Pope has since recovered slightly, but the bronchospasm incident led to a “sudden deterioration of the respiratory image,” which leads to a retrieval time.

“Lately, the night has passed in peace and the Pope is resting now,” the Vatican said.

“Given the complexity of his clinical status, there is a need for a further day of clinical stability to clarify the prognosis,” the Vatican continued. “We can say we came out of the most important stage. We're back to what was previously said to be complicated drawing.”

Before Friday's bronchospasm, the Vatican revealed that the Pope had spent the morning receiving morning oxygen and respiratory physiotherapy. The Pope also engaged in prayer sessions in the chapel.

Meanwhile, Cardinal Angelo de Donatis, a senior Italian Catholic official who has been a major prison since April 2024, is scheduled to host the Ash Wednesday ceremony on March 5th.th – While the Pope rests and continues to recover.

The Vatican pointed out that Pope Francis' prognosis remains “uncertain.”

“The breaking news is talking about improvements again, minor ones, but improvements, but the fact that the prognosis is reserved means that doctors are still concerned.”
