Kaja Karas, head of foreign policy for the European Union, said on Friday that after President Trump and Ukrainian President Voldimia Zelensky were sparred in an oval office, “the free world needs a new leader,” adding that Europeans should “take this challenge.”
“Ukraine is Europe! We are by Ukraine. We will strengthen our support for Ukraine so they can continue to fight back against the AG.[g]She wrote post Social Platform x.
“Today, it has become clear that the free world needs a new leader, and it's up to us to take this challenge,” she continued.
The statements from EU officials come when several European leaders expressed solidarity with Zelensky after a bilateral meeting on Friday and Vice President Vance got caught up in an argument between the three leaders.
“Dear @zelenskyyuaUkrainian friend, you are not alone.” I wrote it Polish Prime Minister Donald Task of Social Platform X
Spanish Prime Minister Pedro Sanchez shared similar X Message“Ukraine, Spain is standing with you.”
“The truth is simple. Russia has invaded Ukraine. Russia is an invader. Ukraine defends its freedom. We are standing with Ukraine.” I wrote it Moldova President Maia Sandou.
Other European leaders who expanded their support to Ukraine following the oval office spat include prime ministers of foreign ministers from Sweden, Latvia, Norway, the Czech Republic, Germany and the Netherlands.
The heartfelt conversation became controversial when Vance and Zelensky discussed diplomacy, the Ukrainian president discussed appreciation for the US support, and Trump called Zelensky “disrespectful” and said he was “not ready for peace.”
Trump and his administration's recent actions on the three-year long war have raised concerns among European leaders seeking to take part in the ongoing negotiations on the Russian-Ukurein War.
Friday's hostile exchange has also been criticized within the United States.
Former Congressman Liz Cheney (R-Wyo.) denounced the US leaders, saying, “History will remember this day.”
“Donald Trump and JD Vance attacked Zelensky and pressured KGB war criminals who invaded Ukraine to abandon the freedom of his people,” Cheney said. I wrote it in X post.
