NASCAR: Riley Gaines to deliver pre-race invocation

The Echopark Automotive Grand Prix will take place on Sunday at Circuit of the Americas in Austin, with sporting figures on hand, making pre-race calls possible.

Riley Gaines is in Austin to deliver prayers before the driver makes 95 laps around the road track.

“It is a surreal honor to realize a pre-race call for Sunday's race on the Americas circuit. We are grateful to have led this moment of prayer to our Heavenly Father and seeking a spirit of safety, sportsmanship and unity in all. Gaines said to the outkickshe hosts the “Gaines for Girls” podcast.

“There are only a few women who have been given this clear honor. One of those women is my role model, Sage Steele. I look forward to exciting racing days and the way this sport brings people together with our passion and love for our country.”

Steele called out in the same race two years ago.

Gaines has been an outspoken advocate for keeping trans athletes out of girls and girls' sports since competing with trans swimmer Leah Thomas, who won the NCAA Division I title.

Georgia passes the “Riley Gaines Act” aimed at banning trans athletes from competing in women's sports

Gaines was recently on hand at the White House to see President Donald Trump sign an executive order aimed at preventing biological men from competing with the opposite sex. However, some states have not complied with the order, leading to at least three Title IX investigations.

In the third official race of the NASCAR season, William Byron won the Daytona 500 for the second consecutive win. Christopher Bell took home the checkered flag at his Ambetter Health 400 last week in Atlanta.
