“You have full support from the UK and we will be standing with Ukraine as long as it takes,” Starmer, who visited the White House on Thursday, said in a presser with Zelensky.

Trump, Vance and Zelensky engaged in a fierce debate surrounding the proposal of peace after asking Vance to clarify his statement about the use of “diplomacy” to achieve peace between Russia and Ukraine.

“What makes America a good country is that it is the US engagement in diplomacy,” he added. “That's what President Trump is doing.”

Zelensky then pointed to repeated Russian invasions in Ukraine since 2014, citing violations of past ceasefire agreements.

“What kind of diplomacy, JD, are you talking? What do you mean?” Zelensky asked the Vice President.

The conversation quickly heated up, and Zelensky left the White House before a scheduled joint press conference. After the meeting, Trump said the Ukrainian president was “not ready for peace.”

“It's amazing that it comes through emotions, and President Zelensky has decided that if America is involved he is not ready for peace because he feels our involvement will bring him a great advantage in negotiations,” Trump wrote of the true society.

“I don't want benefits, I want peace,” Trump continued. “He downplayed the United States in his precious oval office. He can come back when he is ready for peace.”
