When she recently appeared on The Kelly Clarkson Show, the 57-year-old actress recalled that she was diagnosed with a non-cancerous brain tumor in 2015 and shared how the experience changed her approach to health.

The “Private Practice” graduate explained that he noticed a “very subtle” warning sign before the diagnosis.

Why is it difficult to joke in modern culture with Kate Walsh at the end of “Grey's Anatomy”?

“It was like, 'Hey, I'm really tired,'” Walsh recalls. “And it's like, 'Oh, the right side of my body is soaking up.' ”

Walsh told Clarkson that he was unsure if she had health issues at the time, as people around her initially denied her concerns.

“They're like, 'Oh, you're off.' I'm like, 'No,'” she said. “And when you walk your dog, you say, “It has to be a slightly windy street.”

“It was a bit subtle, then very subtle. That kind of thing.”

Walsh continues to worry about her symptoms and decides to seek medical attention.

Looking back, the California native shared what she learned valuable lessons from her experience.

“People were like, 'You're just depressed,' so I know how important it is to advocate for your health. It was right after that [my TV show] “The Bad Judge” has been cancelled,” recalls Walsh.

“Your show has been cancelled. You're just depressed,” she recalled people telling her. “I'm like, 'No, something's off.' ”

Walsh said she initially believed her symptoms were due to menopause and initially pointed out that “there are many of the same markers.”

“I really pushed myself to see a neurologist. I had an instinct,” she recalled. “They don't hand out MRIs that easily, so I really had to advocate. But I got an MRI and I'm grateful for what I did.

Three days later, Walsh underwent surgery to remove the growth and was later determined to be benign meningioma.

According to Mayo Clinic, meningiomas are “brain tumors and brain tumors that begin in the membrane around the spinal cord,” and they are the most common type of benign brain tumors.
