From managerial incomings and outgoings to proposed format changes that would alter the pyramid completely, it feels like we’ve seen it all. We’ll talk about those things a bit later, but for now the focus is on today’s six Women’s Super League fixtures.

To kick things off, Manchester United host Leicester City at Leigh Sports Village. Then, Aston Villa take on Everton while Tottenham face Manchester City. Brighton go head-to-head with league leaders Chelsea before Arsenal meet West Ham for a London Derby this evening.

Perhaps the most interesting fixture of the day, however, is Crystal Palace vs Liverpool. Both clubs sacked their respective managers earlier this week, which came as a huge shock to fans. While Liverpool are yet to find a permanent successor to Matt Beard, Norwegian coach Leif Smerud has replaced Laura Kaminski at Palace. The question is – will the London side get that ‘new manager bounce’ this afternoon?

Important Events

Here's what some WSL managers had to say about the proposed demotion discard…

Robert Villaham: “I definitely want to fight for relegation. You need to compete up and down at the table. If it's one or two years to make sure you can make a big investment in these teams, you can hear and show what they think about it. Fans want to see a game where you compete up and down in the league.”

Galle Taylor: “I've always had the potential to make the league bigger, more teams, 14, 16 teams. The first visual of seeing that piece around relegation this morning gives you a full understanding of why, because those clubs can invest and generate more competition. Both things are positive and negative. I think sometimes I've always been about keeping it simple. Promotion and relegation are always something that supporters and teams play and are craving. I think it's really hard to get away from it.”

Rennie Slegger: “I think there's a reason why most competition works that way in different countries because you want to have that element of competition. But at the same time, decision makers on this are more detailed and knowledgeable. We understand that we need foundations and level of professionalism to be able to provide the quality we need for women's football.”

The Guardian made an exclusive announcement this week that WSL is considering the possibility of abolishing relegation as part of a radical proposal to grow the sport. 23 WSL and Championship clubs were called to the Women's Professional League Ltd meeting on Friday to explore a variety of options to enhance women's soccer profiles, sustainability and profitability. The results of the meeting have not been revealed yet.

What do you think about the proposal? Please feel free to contact us this afternoon. I want to hear from you!

preamble

How many weeks does women's football do?

From incoming calls and outgoing business owners to suggested changes to the pyramid completely, we feel like we've seen it all. As I'll explain in a bit later, for now I'm focusing on the equipment for today's six women's Super League.

To get things started, Manchester United will host Leicester City in Lee Sports Village. Aston Villa will then face Everton, while Tottenham will face Manchester City. Brighton will head straight with league leader Chelsea before Arsenal meets West Ham for the London Derby tonight.

Perhaps the most interesting fixture of the day is Crystal Palace vs. Liverpool. Both clubs fired their respective managers earlier this week, which was a huge shock for fans. Liverpool has yet to find a permanent successor to Matt Beard, but Norwegian coach Reif Smerud has replaced Laura Kaminsky at the palace. The question is, will the London side get that “new manager bounce” this afternoon?
