Former Gov. Andrew Cuomo made his first appearance since throwing his hat into the ring at the Big Apple Mayor's race. You can tell supporters that they saved the city during the pandemic and save it from the current issues.
Cuomo, 67, was introduced by her daughter as she spoke to the carpenter's union headquarters on the west side of Manhattan.
“My friend, Covid, was the biggest threat we faced with a generation,” the former governor said. “It was life and death. It was as serious as it got, and it was as scary as it got. And New York, we had it first, we were the worst, we were ourselves, and no one knew what to do? But what did we do? We gathered, we were tall, we were standing strong, and we faced head-on with the challenge.
“Everyone did their part,” he said. “And we kept this place, kept it running, saved lives, led the country. So can we deal with this challenge? You're tired of what we can do.”
Andrew Cuomo, son of former governor Mario Cuomo, entered the mayoral race on Saturday after months of speculation and is now part of a crowded candidate who wants to rule out Mayor Eric Adams.
This is a developing story.
