Philadelphia 76ers guard Quenting Rimes played his life game on Saturday night.
The former Knicks first rounder brought a 44-point explosion that dropped his chin in a 126-120 victory over the Golden State Warriors.
The Grimes scored three points by filming the game one-on-one before, and had only one game of at least 30 points this season before Saturday.
The unexpected explosion from the Grimes has been known for his defensive tenacity and three-point shooting since being selected for the Knicks at No. 25 in the 2021 draft.
The Grimes, who had averaged modest numbers since being traded for the Dallas Six for Caleb Martin, fired early and never cooled.
He drained six three-pointers on his way to the 24-24 shooting display in a game where Tylece Maxie and Paul George combined 22 points with 8-27 shooting.
Since being dealt with Philadelphia, the Grimes have bolstered their average from 16.8 points with 52% shooting and 41% in nine games.
In the season, he averages only 11.3 points per game, but he's hitting nearly 48% off the field and 40% north from the deep.
His previous career high was 36 points when he won the Pacers on April 5, 2023.
Joel Embiid has come out for the season due to injury and George struggles in a way that is attracting attention, so the Six is searching, and Grimes has proven he can become a valuable weapon when given the opportunity.
Heading towards free agency this summer, the Grimes has the contract coming in the offseason.
