National Security Advisor Mike Waltz compared Ukrainian President Voldimi Zelensky to his “ex-girlfriend” who has been relating to the issue for nearly a decade.
In an interview with Breitbart Radio on Saturday, Waltz was critical of Zelensky's approach to Oval Office Meeting and subsequent interviews with Fox News, saying that the Ukrainian president is focusing on “fact-checking” the past and not focusing sufficiently on moving on to the future.
Asked if Zelensky has improved his position since his controversial meeting with President Trump, Waltz said, “No, look, he's clearly focused on believing that all the nuances need to be fact-checked and corrected.”
“It's like an ex-girlfriend who wants to discuss everything you said nine years ago, rather than pushing the relationship forward,” he added.
The long-studded tensions between President Trump and Zelensky erupted openly on Friday during an oval office replacement that they believe will have a major impact on the US, Russia, Ukraine and across Europe.
The meeting was entrusted when Zelensky forced Vice President Vance to Vice President Vance with his proposal to arrive at a diplomatic solution to end the war with Russian President Vladimir Putin.
Zelensky laid out over the years and years in which Putin took over Ukrainian territory vigorously, returned to the previous ceasefire and refused to trade prisoners.
“What does that mean?” Zelensky asked Vance.
“I'm talking about diplomacy that will end the destruction of your country,” Vance replied. “I think it's rude to come to an oval office to try and litigate this in front of the American media. Right now, you're having a talent issue, so you're forcing the draft to the frontline. [this] Conflict. “
Zelensky suggested that the US would feel the impact of future wars, but it wasn't for geography yet. Trump shot back saying, “You're not in a position so don't tell us what we're trying to feel.”
Zelensky was repeatedly asked if he said he was grateful for the billions of weapons that the United States has sent Ukraine since the war began in 2022.
“If you didn't have our military equipment, this war would have ended in two weeks,” Trump said. “It's going to be extremely difficult to do business like this.”
“Please say thank you,” Vance added. “We know you're wrong.”
In a subsequent interview with Fox News' Brett Byer, Zelensky did not apologise for his extraordinary oval office spat with Trump.
“Maybe we might have to discuss from the media with respect to democracy and the free media,” he continued, “this is not good for both sides.
