Actress KJ Smith oddly suggested that black communities “start to see” moving to Africa due to the political situation in the US during a red carpet event held at the Oscars on Sunday evening.
Smith added, “I understand our roots,” and after being asked if there was anything she would like to “we want to talk more about our community,” she replied, “I think it's really important.”

“I don't think we're trapped here,” Bett said. Cystas The stars continued. “In the political situation happening in the United States, we're not trapped here. There's a place we can go.”
“There are countries that are reclaiming us – some are regaining citizenship, and I think it's time for the black community to start looking into those resources with open arms,” Smith added.
But Smith's remarks are odd given that the exit poll suggests support for President Trump's black voters, which nearly doubled in the 2024 election compared to 2020.
Trump won 20% of black votes in the 2020 election, exit survey show. This was a key jump from 13% of community votes Trump won in the 2020 election. This was already a notable jump from 8% of Black voters in the 2016 election, as it was the highest level of support from black voters since George W. Bush in 2000.
