Woman says she was kicked off health insurance over ‘systematic failure’ from federal agencies – WSB Atlanta

ATLANTA – She's not over 65 and is not disabled, but the federal government says that Metro Atlanta women have been actively registered with Medicare for many years.

“I shouldn't be in Medicare. This is a systematic failure at some institutions,” said Roswell's Kristen Rose. Channel 2 Consumer Researcher Justingray.

However, last fall she was told that her Affordable Care Act health insurance had been cancelled for both her and her teenage son.

The cancellation notice calls it a “voluntary withdrawal.”

“I said I voluntarily retreated, but it was wrong. I would never have done it before. Then I learned that it was Healthcare.gov that voluntarily retreated me, and my insurance stopped immediately,” Rose said.

Rose had been enrolled in health insurance through the Obamacare ACA exchange for years before he was suddenly told he was not eligible because he was in Medicare Part A in October.

“I felt hopeless. I don't have any health insurance,” Rose said.

Over 10 years ago, Rose was interviewed Channel 2 Action News About the serious injuries she suffered from a collision in a vehicle with a recalled tire.

She went to Social Security Disability at the time and was placed in Medicare.

However, in 2018, she submitted the form following instructions to stop disability and Medicare coverage.

For years she thought it had happened.

“I didn't know I had Medicare. I had a premium. I never received a bill. I never received a card. I had no idea,” she said.

For months, Rose tried to resolve the bureaucratic chaos.

She was given a copy of Social Security in the same form as she filled out in 2018 to show Medicare. However, her complaint was still denied.

Rose's credit score has fallen as Medicare reports her over the years, and she has not been able to receive expensive treatment for her rheumatoid arthritis for months.

“I need these medications, this is what I want to keep my life going. This has dramatically changed my life, not just physically, but also mentally and emotionally,” Rose said.

The Social Security Bureau said Channel 2 Action News Due to privacy rules, specific cases cannot be discussed. However, they heard from the grey and then confirmed that they reached for Rose.

Rose said the SSA has admitted “human error.”

She was told they actually “cancelled” her Medicare in 2018, but they failed to “end” it from her record.

Rose was said to have begun to end and expedited.
