Texas rapper G $lil Ronnie was killed in the daytime shooting that took her daughter's life the day after celebrating her fifth birthday, the family said.
30-year-old rapper, real name Ronnie Smith and daughter R'mani were shot dead just before 11am Monday as two men ran while cleaning their car at Slappy Express Car Wash in Forest Hill. Fox 4 reported.
“Someone came through the shooting and killed him and the baby,” rapper's aunt Stella Houston told the outlet. “Baby!” she said of the girl who just turned five years old.
“He was a rapper. He didn't care about anyone. He targeted nobody. He was a family man and he was rounding the rap, okay. Why target him?” asked my aunt.
Authorities said two white four-doa aia PERPs are being sought after bloodshed.
They are accused of setting the father's daughter duo on fire and running away from the scene.
Becky Johnson, who lives across the street from the car wash, said she had heard of multiple shootings.
“The sixth time, and it was half a second, and I heard six more seconds. Then for a second, I heard three,” she recalled. “We could see people fleeing for the car.”
The officers believe they know at least one of the shooters, but have not released their identity.
Smith and his daughter were both declared dead at the scene.
The motive for the shooting was not immediately clear, but authorities said it was targeted.
