The boy was fighting for his life after being exposed to fentanyl at a Brooklyn shelter Tuesday morning, and his parents were taken to question him, police and sources said.
According to the NYPD, the 4-year-old was unresponsive and was in the midst of an apparent overdose when officers arrived at the Women In Need Inc. shelter in Flatbush just after 8am.
EMS managed Narcan on the scene, rushing TOT to Maimonides Medical Center, and as of Tuesday night, officers said it was in critical condition.
The boy's parents were detained for questioning after investigators retrieved drug equipment in the shelter for the woman and her family, sources said. The tools will be tested.
Both mother and father were allegedly taking fentanyl at the time, and were allegedly exposing the child to a fatal drug. The source told Amney.
No formal arrests have been made, according to the NYPD.
As the night fell, police and medical teams, including the dangerous material team, remained on the scene.
