Florida suspect allegedly swallowed $769K Tiffany & Co. earrings after heist

The suspects include Tiffany & Co., which earned more than $750,000, following the Florida jewel robbery. It is said that he swallowed the earrings.

The Orlando Police Department has released images showing several objects in the stomach of 32-year-old Jaythan Gilder after being taken into custody last Wednesday.

Guilder “claims to represent professional athletes” that day, Tiffany & Co, located in the Millennia mall. It first arrived at the store and “several high value jewelry was shown, including two pairs of earrings worth $769,500,” Orlando police said in a statement.

Police said he “forced the earrings and resisted the employee's attempts to stop him.”

“Through the investigation measures, detectives were able to identify the escaped vehicle and the route it was taking towards Texas. Shortly after the theft, Florida Highway Patrol was notified and found the vehicle driving without a rear light on Interstate 10 in Washington County,” Orlando police said. “Traffic stops were made based on observed violations and the driver was identified as a guilder.

“When Guilder was taken into custody, he was seen resisting arrest and swallowing several objects believed to be stolen earrings,” police added. “With the help of the Washington County Sheriff's Office, investigators executed a search warrant to find the stolen property.”

According to an arrest report, Guilder claims to be representing players on the NBA's Orlando Magic team, and according to the WFLA, a pair of missing diamond earrings was found in his stomach after a body scan.

“These foreign objects are suspected to be Tiffany & Co earrings filmed in the robbery, but they must be collected by WCSO after passing through the Guilder system before confirming it.”

At one point, Guilder asked staff at the local prison whether they would be “prosecuted for something in my stomach.” WFLA also reported, Quote arrest report.

Guilder was eventually charged with robbery with masks and grand theft in the first degree, including stolen items worth more than $100,000.

“A search for Guilder's criminal history revealed a similar robbery at the Tiffany & Company Store in Woodlands, Texas, and 48 separate warrants from Colorado,” Orlando Police said.
