Carville says Trump ‘trying to harm’ US with actions on Ukraine, tariffs

Democratic strategist James Kerrville has accused the president of intentionally hurting the country after he fell into President Trump's recent Ukraine and tariff moves.

“He's actually trying to hurt the US,” Kerrville accused. video Released Tuesday, it points to the president's 25% tariffs on imports from Canada and Mexico and an explosive oval office meeting with Ukrainian President Voldimir Zelensky last week.

Kerrville, a longtime voice critic of Trump, compared the actions of other past Republican leaders he strongly criticized, including George W. Bush during the Iraq War, to the actions of the president.

“But I didn't think George W. Bush wanted to do anything harm to the United States,” Kerrville said. “I don't think Trump likes the US. I honestly believe that the most compelling answer to all of this is that he doesn't like this country.”

Through his various criticisms of Trump, the Democratic strategist advocated that President GOP “doesn't like the constitution,” international alliances that have existed for decades, or separation of power within the US federal government.

“We know he believes we are a terrible country. We are terrible people… we know that. Like many people, he didn't want to serve the army, but we know that. We know that he's trying to destroy the army by chasing away all the capable people he can find, we know that. We know today that he doesn't care about high prices,” Kerrville argued.

“What can explain it all?” he continued. “I think the simplest and most direct explanation is that the US president hates the US.”

Trump previously dismissed Kerrville's criticism, knocking him “weak” last month, knocking him “crazy” and “crazy” broken “losers” after a Democratic strategist appeared on Fox News.

Speaking before Trump addressed a joint session in Congress on Tuesday night, he said he had pledged a new “American golden age,” and he said he hopes Democrats will treat Trump's second term as “the greatest gravity of the greatest danger,” while operating within the limits of the House and Senate minority.

“If the country is saved, they will need to play an important role in it,” he said of the Congressional Democrats.
