You'll have a hard time finding a Walk-On College athlete who is more well-known than Brandon Dwyer.
After growing his online presence for many years with series like his “Road to One Point,” the senior Florida Gulf security guards appeared to have officially stepped down their way to win the college bucket when the team was eliminated at Queens University in the Atlantic Sun Tournament on Monday night.
However, the social media superstar told a post that he plans to play another year at FGCU after three scoreless college basketball seasons.
“I'm one more year qualified, so I'll take that,” Dwyer said. “I definitely stay at FGCU and run it and have another 30 possible games to get that point.”
Despite being a two-time state champion and a host of Division II and Division III suitors at Sanford School in Delaware, Dwyer chose to make his Division I dream come true and win a favourable walk-on spot at LaSalle.
Just a year later, after appearing in one game, Dwyer joined the team as a walk-on, following coach Pat Chambers and then FGCU.
He initially posted a video to document the lives of a college basketball player, but according to Dwyer, “sucking.”
He eventually found a groove with more relevant content, and his Tiktok pages exploded – in part, he reposted Dwyer's video with additional screenshots of Dwyer's non-existent university statistics.
“How can you deal with this?” Dwyer was wondering at the time.

Some friends suggested retaliation, but Dwyer decided to lean on it and start “punching” himself about being a benchwormer.
It's just the start of the virus series as Dwyer continued his quest to ultimately score points.
From home games to road games to tournaments in the Virgin Islands, Dwyer said he was recognized by fans and Heckler alike.
“I didn't get a minute in that tournament,” Dwyer said of last season's Paradise Jam event.
However, fans flocked for post-match photos.
“When is that [my team] It kind of happened, like, “OK, this is crazy,” Dwyer said.
Since launching his travel documents, Dwyer has added over 1 million followers on Tiktok and another 500,000 on Instagram.
He is Meta, Dick's sporting goods, Tinder, Dr. I have brand dealing with companies such as Pepper.
“We usually want all these crazy brands to talk about how I don't play,” Dwyer said. “I think it's hilarious.”
Still, he has not recorded a single point for four years.
In eight career appearances, Dwyer played nine minutes, going 3-for-3 from the field. Two of these shot attempts came in FGCU after starting “The Road to One Point.”
He missed both shots in six games this season.
In the days when Dwyer checked into the game while blowing out there was a mixed reaction from the opposing team when Dwyer hunted the bucket.
In a 26-point victory over Stetson, Dwyer says the opposing coach yelled, “Don't let him touch the ball!” When Dwyer checked in.
“Both, I hope you score, but that's not for me,” one player told Dwyer.
“On the flip side, you get people like, 'If they set the screen for you, I'll go down and you'll get your shot,'” Dwyer said.
The dream continues beyond this season, and Dwyer also says that FGCU is likely to take part in this year's College Basketball Invitational (CBI) tournament, giving him a chance, or some, to crack the scoresheet.
“For some reason, people are invested in me to win a single basket,” Dwyer said. “I have to give myself another shot.”
