Walz on leader of Democratic Party: ‘The voting public’

Minnesota Gov. Tim Waltz, D., has said he believes the party's next leader will become the “voting masses” as he and former vice president Kamala Harris.

Waltz It appeared On CNN on Wednesday, we will discuss President Trump's joint speech to Congress and his party's future.

“Who do you think the Democratic leader is now?” asked CNN's Kasie Hunt.

Waltz paused and then said he believed the leader was the mass of the vote.

In the aftermath of the election, Democratic officials questioned who would step up and become the party's next leader. Harris and Waltz were part of that conversation, but neither explicitly said that it would be carried out in 2028.

Waltz said he doesn't think the party has a charismatic leader here.

He said he believes that administration leaders need to “stand together” with those protesting against the administration and the Ministry of Government Efficiency (DOGE).

Hunt once again wondered whether Waltz had seen someone who could “dominate” politics in the way President Trump has for the GOP over the past decade.

“I see a lot of them,” he replied. “We're seeing younger members of Congress step up.”

Waltz argued that Democrats must be there “everyday” to fight Trump.

“We need to be better organized. We have an organic uprising that we see from people,” he said.
