Turning Point USA founder Charlie Kirk, involved California Gov. Gavin Newsom (D)'s claims in the “book ban,” saying, “I think you can agree that porn should not be taught to nine-year-olds.”
“What about the ban on books? Seriously, 4,240 books or titles, libraries and schools were banned in 2023,” the California governor asked Kirk on an episode Thursday. This is Gavin Newsom Podcast.
Listen to:
“I think we can both agree that we shouldn't teach a 9 year old,” Kirk replied.
“Okay, that's a book ban,” the founder of Turning Point USA added, “What we should do now is that all California schools that have porn in libraries should be kicked out.”
Newsom then challenged Kirk's argument, asking, “Does it include the Bible?”
“Well, I'm not saying that Solomon's song is porn,” Kirk smiled. Is that a fair point or is it an offensive person as a faithful person? ”
“I don't think that's fair at all,” Kirk said. Your audience can see an image of themselves, it is very graphic. ”
Nevertheless, he doubled his claims of “book ban” by denounceing his political right to be involved in “next level cancellation culture.”
“But why do you think mommy is doing that?” Kirk asked. “Do you think they want to be mind control or you came across the incident after the highly provocative material incident?”
The California governor later said, “I love moms, but we don't have to enter moms for freedom.”
“But you've raised a book ban,” Kirk reminded Newsom. The point added: “It's easy to call it a 'book ban,' but when you actually have to read some of these books, it's going to take your breath away.”
“I know, I just have a problem: is hell going to decide that? Government? Ron DeSantis is going to decide if I can read or say?” Newsom challenged.
Kirk responded by reminding the governor of “exercising politics” in society to determine what is not allowed.
But this is the exercise of politics. The exercise of politics is the best form of community because it combines morality with sociability. So what we're doing is, we have discussions and elections, we have boards and committees, and we're people saying, “Okay, there's no 10-year-old porn.” And that's politics, right?
Newsom replied, “Yeah, I got it,” and seemed to admit.
“There's a movement of a growing mom, [and] They feel our kids are over-sexualized,” Kirk said. “And I agree with them.”
