Police find boy missing for 8 years after responding to chance call about trespassing

The Colorado police said A coincidence After his mother fled Georgia in 2017, he was led to the recovery of a boy who had been missing for eight years.

The Douglas County Sheriff's Office said they were called in January to investigate possible robbery at a Highland Ranch home and found two adults with children in the van.

“For some reason, perhaps by God's grace, I happen to be looking at my camera.”

The house was for sale and vacant, but was monitored via security video by owner Kyle Krone. I spoke to KUSA-TV. He brought vigilance on his cell phone and said he saw strangers peeking around the house.

“For some reason, perhaps by God's grace, I happen to be looking at the camera this time,” Krone said.

He called the police and they arrived as if Ravia Khalid and Elliot Blake Bourgeois had left the house. Douglas County Sheriff Darren Weekly said the two gave contradictory explanations and they decided to investigate further, as police were suspicious.

They determined that Khalid was being sought for the kidnapping and that one of the children had been missing for eight years. Her mother had a controversial divorce from the boy's father, but when she lost custody, she ran away with the boy.

Khalid was charged with nine counts including conspiracy to commit a donation and involving the theft of a civil servant, violating custody, impersonating criminals and trespassing.

The bourgeois was charged with 14 counts including two attempts to induce identity theft, attempts to affect civil servants, custody violations and multiple counterfeitings.

Both suspects will be taken into custody on $1 million bonds and will appear in court on March 27th.

Crone commented on the accidental nature of the phone that led to the rescue of the child.

“It's always interesting that it's always the smallest, you know, you can completely change someone else's outcomes and life. I'm glad they're safe,” he said.
